well after my odd and disappointing day of poker i last posted about i took a couple days off….i had to just step back and get my wits about me again….although it is frustrating to have to play in mostly nothing but freerolls right now as i build a bankroll to play with…i do have to say it gives me daily lessons on staying kool…another plus is because it\’s not costing me money i can try different types of play without taking a loss to the bankroll…yeah if i mess it up i don\’t add to the bank but it may teach me something i needed to learn in the process….today i am happy to say that in both freerolls i played in i cashed in…yayyyyyyyyy lol….one was a very small amount…only 30 cents…but hey its more than before i started the day lol…the second was a bit better…cashed in for 3 dollars lol….i\’m not real sure how much money i should have in my account before i try my hand at something other than freerolls tho….i did go to the .01/.02 tables and just sat and watched them play…for some strange reason i just couldn\’t bring myself to sit and play….how much should you have in your bank before you hit the micro tables? how much before you try a micro buyin with say nine players?…and when i get there do i play tight and only play premium hands?
well yesterday i played in like six or seven freerolls….i don\’t know what was with me but i played really well right up til the last part of the tourneys….i was gettin good hands…able to call more than i normally do…didn\’t even have to bluff much which is a good thing cuz i suck at bluffing lol….but anyways back to the point in every tourney i was in just before the payoffs started i would like just blow it…it was like it was subconsious….was in one that only paid out top finisher and that was for a sixty dollar entry into a big payoff tourney and sixty bucks in your accout…now that would have been awesome…i made it to heads up…i was in the lead and was still gettin my cards….and then i just let it go…made calls i knew were bad but it was like i just didn\’t care…wtf lol…i mean come on i have been wanting these kinds of wins for a long time now to put me ahead of the game and into some real money where there aren\’t so many donkeys to contend with and i just blew it…time after time i would just let it all go right before the money payoff….when it all sank in late last night i was so pissed at myself…maybe it had something to do with the fact that i hadn\’t slept in two days lol….yeah you guessed it i have insomnia….its what i\’m gonna blame this latest disaster on cuz i can\’t place it on anything else…guess lesson learned is not to play if i havn\’t slept for a few days lol…at least not with money lol
well i havn\’t been posting in here like i should be…but i will start to do it more often….as i\’m relatively new to the whole blog thing i wasn\’t too sure where to start with it…i guess i\’m just gonna go with what feels right at the time….well i\’ve added a few new sites to my list and i have to say that it is pretty dissappointing lol…grant it there are less and less usa friendly sites out there and starting your poker play with the top contenders only sets one up for dissappointment lol..but i will continue to see what i can make happen on the slow and less inviting sites in my down time….recently i had built up approx five bucks on four different sites doing nothing but freerolls ….i\’ve gone on and tried my hand at some small sit and go\’s of late and am pretty disappointed in my play thus far….i have almost completely drained all the money from each site aside from one site….am happy to announce that i played in a freeroll today and placed 14th and won a whopping 5 bucks yayyyyyyyy….now that bankroll is up to $12…my biggest amount on one site yet….i\’m soooooooooo tempted to try out some real money games or sit n go\’s with it but at the same time i don\’t want to loose it like i did on the other sites lol….everytime i place in the money in a tourney i feel its luck and not skill that got me there lol….i don\’t know maybe i need someone sitting there watching my from home and let me know after what they thought and how i could have done things differently….many say read a book or watch a cd done by a prof. player….but i\’m the cynical type and figure ya well that\’s their idea on it and the next guy is gonna have another take on it….who to listen to anyway? lol….then again being female i don\’t really have much of a mind for lectures or being told what to do lol….prob why i don\’t work lol….well enough rambling for today…i\’ll get back to ya and let ya know just how well i do in my tourneys tomarow
ya know i keep hearing that reading the player has alot to do with winning at poker….i kinda see thier point but its not always easy to read some people…i find that people can read me easily and benefit from it…how do you learn to read people?…if i get a middle of the road hand and i\’m up against an aggressive player i end up folding the winning hand alot i think which stinks…how do i get beyond the intimidation factor at the table when i can\’t really read people? ..how do you know when to play the person and not your cards and win?
well i place well i think on the freeroll …there were alot of good players in the tourney….made 3.38….would have liked to stay in longer but the cards eluded me….i wound up basically blinding out…yeah sure i could have made a few hail mary\’s in the hopes of not being called on or getting lucky but that\’s just not me…i keep telling myself i need to loosen up my play and be more aggressive at the table but i never can seem to pull it off…any ideas how to get beyond the mind block?..i don\’t want to be a donkey player by any means but i may be holding my game back because i won\’t take alot of the risks others will
i have been playing holdem for a few years now and no matter what site i go to or what kind of tourney i am in i find that there are alot of all in\’s over and over again durring the first three to ten hands of the game…even sitting at a ring game new players go all in their first few hands…i have heard many different ways to deal with this but still find it very irritating….i realize that these people are triing to get ahead of everyone else right away but let\’s be realistic here…how often does it really work? anyone have a clue what the odds are? how do you deal with the constant all in\’s?
